Lamar High School FFA receives donation of Miniature Zebu Calf

September 17, 2008, Lamar, AR. This article appeared in the Johnson County Graphic, Clarksville, Arkansas.

Arkansas' only 3 Star National FFA Chapter recently received a Miniature Zebu Calf from the Herndon Farms in Cadiz, Kentucky.  Lamar FFA members pictured receiving "Sir Braggadocio" are, from left, Chris Holland, Ryan Warren and FFA sponsor, Chris Bacchus.  The calf weighs 15 pounds, is 20" tall and is approximately 12 weeks old.  The Zebu Calf joins other unique species that the Lamar FFA cares for, to include a Llama, sheep, goats and various breeds of cattle.  The chapter is preparing for their annual conference at Indianapolis, Indiana in October, and will be recognized as one of the few 3 Star FFA Chapters in the nation.

Steve:
Sir "B" is doing great.  Our County Fair was last week and we took him for the purpose of just displaying him throughout the week and then we were going to enter him in the pet show on Saturday.  Well our numbers were kind of down this (with feed prices I understand why) and so the beef superintendent came to me the morning of the show and said that they didn't have any Junior Bulls entered and they already had a chair made so they were going to enter Sir "B" in the bull show!  So, Sir "B" ended up the Supreme Champion Bull at our County Fair and received a directors chair and the the Supreme Bull goes in the premium sale (premium money only) so we made over $1,000.00 for our FFA Chapter in the premium sale with him.

In the pet show, he won "Cutest Pet" as well, which was a given.

Thanks,
Chris
